Google Apps

Google Apps is not as centralized as the many of the other groupware tools are.  Creating a team workspace is cumbersome and it is not easy to integrate Google Docs, Calendar, etc. into a central team portal.  Another downside to Google Apps is that it requires a distinct domain name for each entity.  We were not able to create a workspace just for our team using our Gmail accounts.  Instead, one team member had to sign in using her students.depaul.edu email address, and then share a Google site with each teammate.  This hinders ease of use and does not allow for the creation of workspaces for individual teams within an organization.  It considers the whole organization as one team.  In the end, we decided that Google Apps has some work yet to do in becoming a true player in the team collaboration space.
